FTI Ontario is proud to launch Training the Future Workforce, an Apprenticeship Readiness Program designed to give individuals the skills, experience, and confidence needed to succeed in the finishing trades. This hands-on training initiative prepares participants for apprenticeships and employment in one of the three offered trades: Glazing, Commercial Painting & Decorating, and Industrial Painting.

Courses Offered
You can choose from three tailored pathways, each aligned with a registered apprenticeship:
Glazier Apprenticeship Readiness Program
For those interested in the Architectural Glass and Metal Technician (Glazier) 424A trade. Learn about glass handling, curtain wall systems, and aluminum framing installation.
Commercial Painter & Decorator Apprenticeship Readiness Program
Prepares you for the Painter Decorator Commercial & Residential 404C apprenticeship. Build core skills in surface prep, coatings, and interior/exterior painting techniques.
Industrial Painter Apprenticeship Readiness Program
Leads into the Painter Decorator Industrial 404D apprenticeship. Focus on spray painting, protective coatings, safety at heights, and working on large steel structures.

Program Overview
- 6 weeks of in-class training unpaid: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Followed by a 12-week paid work placement
- Led by experienced instructors
- Tools, equipment, and PPE provided Â
What You’ll Learn
The program delivers a crash course in job readiness and trade fundamentals, including:

- Trade Basics
- Foundational Trade Knowledge
- Hands-On Preparation
The program will take place across FTI Ontario’s training school and nearby facilities to maximize space and hands-on learning.
